Today, our guest speaker was Fire Chief Robert Brill. He was appointed Chief in January of this year, and comes to Wheaton from the Wilmette Fire Department, where he served as Deputy Chief after 20 years of service.
Our fire department works out of three stations, and has 57 full time employees (firefighters, paramedics, EMS). As an all-hazard, career fire fighting organization it provides fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous materials mitigation, technical rescue (structural collapse, confined space, high/low angle rescue, trench rescue), swiftwater/underwater rescue, fire prevention & community risk reduction, and public education.
To enhance its capabilities, the Department is part of the Western DuPage Fire Rescue Alliance. It consists of thirteen fire stations of the fire fighting departments from West Chicago, Carol Stream, Winfield, Bloomingdale, Roselle, and Wheaton. Alliance members both train together and jointly provide service within these communities.
