2/28/24
Today, our guest speakers were Dr. Crystal Downing and Dr. David Downing, Co-Directors of the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College.

The Marion E. Wade Center promotes cultural engagement and spiritual formation by offering a collection of resources available nowhere else in the world. The Center emphasizes the ongoing relevance of seven British Christian authors who provide a distinctive blend of intellect, imagination, and faith: C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Dorothy L. Sayers, George MacDonald, G.K. Chesterton, Owen Barfield, and Charles Williams. The Center implements these goals by
  • Assisting scholars in their study of unique materials by and about these seven authors in order to generate new understandings;
  • Sharing insights with a broader audience through our numerous programs and publications;
  • Supporting artistic works inspired by our authors;
  • Welcoming visitors to our museum.
The Center contains collections of materials, including manuscripts, related to each of the seven authors, and the Center museum museum features memorabilia and rotating displays with selections from the collection of books, letters, manuscripts, and artifacts.

The Center is located at 351 E. Lincoln Avenue, Wheaton, and is open Monday - Friday. It is open to the public and there is no admission charge. Additional information: https://www.wheaton.edu/academics/academic-centers/wadecenter/plan-your-visit/
