Our annual installation dinner is held:
(1) to celebrate what we accomplished in community service and philanthropy, and
(2) to honor local businesses and individuals for their service to our community, and an individual Rotarian for their service in the Club.
Our community service includes Club members volunteering at the Convalescent Center, CUSD 200 Mobile Food Pantry, ESSE Adult Day Services, Feed My Starving Children, and Rebuilding Together Aurora. Our $41,000 of philanthropy is for collegiate & vocational scholarships, and donations to fifteen community service organizations. This year's honorees were: (1) Business of the Year: The McCormick Foundation/Cantigny Park. Representing the Foundation was Robert (Bob) Carr. The Foundation was honored in recognition of the exceptional commitment to strengthening the community through philanthropy, civic leadership, support for veterans, and the stewardship of Cantigny as a place of education, inspiration, and public service. The Robert R. McCormick Foundation exemplifies our Rotary motto: “Service above Self”. (2) Honorary Rotarian: Michael (Mike) Dzugan, Wheaton City Manager. Mike was honored for his 35 years of steadfast leadership improving the city of Wheaton through financial stewardship, vision and focus on the needs of residents and businesses. (3) Rotarian of the Year: James (Jim) Hebert was honored for his 35 years of his continued leadership and exemplary display of Rotary Values.
