City Recognized Rotary Clubs in Honor of World Polio Day

In recognition of World Polio Day on Sunday, Oct. 24, Mayor Suess and the Wheaton City Council recently presented a proclamation recognizing Rotary Club of Wheaton and Rotary Club of Wheaton A.M., which work to eradicate polio worldwide as part of Rotary International. Rotary Club of Wheaton President Erica Loiacono and Rotary Club of Wheaton A.M. President Dan Boyer accepted the proclamation.

As a service organization, Rotarians spearheaded the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, aimed at immunizing children worldwide against polio. Since 1988, polio cases have dropped by over 99.9 percent, and the world stands on the threshold of eradicating this disease.

The City thanks Wheaton's Rotary Club members for their work on this and many other service projects locally and globally.
