Today, our guest speaker was Warrenville Mayor David Brummel. David is a lifetime resident and became the fifth Mayor of Warrenville after winning the 2005 and subsequent elections. His presentation dealt with the history and development of Warrenville.
Settled in 1833 and incorporated in 1967, Warrenville's location provides easy access to both homes and businesses. Warrenville's population of 13,553 allows the City to maintain that small-town feel and still have the advantage of drawing upon a diversified tax base to ease the financial burden off of residential property owners. The City is best known for Cantera. Developed as a "city within a city" Cantera is a bustling business, residential, entertainment, and retail mecca . Before the highly successful 1986 TIF redevelopment, it was a limestone quarry and concrete batch plant located on 650-acres in Warrenville, where the quarry operated from the 1950's to the early 1990's.
