2/8/23

Today, our guest speaker was Clint Scharff, fellow Rotarian and CEO of the Three Fire Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  Coincidentally, the BSA was incorporated this day in 1910.
Scouting programs have evolved during the past 113 years to remain relevant. The most widely known change is that girls are welcome to the BSA to better involve entire families in the Scouting programs. Programs currently consist of: Cub Scouts (youth in grades K-5), Scouts BSA (youth ages 11-13), Venturing (youth ages 14-20), Sea Scouts (youth ages 14-20), and Exploring (youth ages 10-20). More about these programs can be found at the national BSA website: https://www.scouting.org/

These programs are provided by the Three River Council. Camping is an essential part of Scouting: the Council operates Camp Big Timber, a 70 acre facility in Elgin, IL operating year-round, and offers both overnight and multiple day camping. More about the programs and the camp can be found at the Three Fire Council website: https://threefirescouncil.org/
