  • Today, our guest speaker was Ms. Mehret Asgedom. She currently teaches ESL Study Skills, ESL Reading, and ESL Government at Wheaton North High School.
Her presentation of her journey from a refugee camp in Sudan as a child to teaching at Wheaton North is simply amazing. Forced to flee from the Ethiopian civil wars, her family resided in a refugee camp where they were rescued
by World Relief (https://worldrelief.org/chicagoland/) which sponsored the family's resettlement in Wheaton. An alumna of CUSD 200 since kindergarten, she is a 2000 graduate of Wheaton College, and a 2010 graduate of National Lewis University. As an ESL specialist, she brings her passion, experiences, and skills to help the children of the immigrant families residing in CUSD 200.
