Today, our guest speakers were Connor Brown and Diane Marr representing the Care Center and the DuPage Care Center Foundation.

The DuPage Care Center (formerly known as The DuPage Convalescent Center) was originally built in 1888 as the DuPage County Alms Farm to serve the indigent.  Today, the facility provides Long-Term Care and Short-Term Rehabilitative Care to individuals needing support with their activities of daily living.
The facility has undergone renovations in 1900, 1949, 1964, 1974 and 1995 and consists of five connected buildings.  The facility will embark on a renovation in 2023. Today the facility, known as the DuPage Care Center, is a modern, well equipped, professionally staffed, treatment and rehabilitation centers for individuals requiring 24-hour complex medical care.  The facility is licensed for 368 beds, with approximately 70% of the beds occupied by Public Aid recipients.

The Center operates as department of DuPage County, but less than 5% of the Center's operating budget is provided by the County.

The members of the two Wheaton Rotary clubs have for many decades volunteered at the Center for a monthly Card Night, and now Bingo.
