Field trip! Today we revisited the Cosley Zoo (https://cosleyzoo.org/) after many years, and were given a tour of the zoo by Greg Bockheim, Zoo Director.
What began in 1974 with a a handful of domestic farm animals, the zoo now houses over 200 animals, representing more than 60 species (https://cosleyzoo.org/zoo-information/animals/). While the expanded vehicle parking and improvements to Gary Avenue have garnered much puplic attantion, it is the recent and planned enhancements that were the subject of the presentaton and tour. The presentation was held in the recently completed Hale Family Education Pavilion. Of the several planned enhancements, perhaps the replacement of the aviary is the most significant. Located on the north side of the property, this wood structure dates from 1982 and definitely is showing its age.
