Today, our guest speaker was Greg Bockheim, recently hired Director of the Zoo.
His presentation provided a broad overview of the Zoo's history and operations
- Animals:
- The Zoo opened in 1974 with a display of a handful of domestic farm animals.
- Today, the Zoo maintains 20 exhibits, housing more than 200 animals that represent over 50 species. A complete list of animals you will find at the zoo, as well as photos and descriptions can be found at: https://cosleyzoo.org/zoo-information/animals/
- The Canada Lynx has a special place because of the Zoo's efforts to breed this endangered species.
- The Zoo is very popular. In 2024 there were 165,000 visitors and 61,000 education program participants.
- The Cosley Foundation https://cosleyzoo.org/zoo-information/cosley-foundation/: Through its fundraising efforts the Foundation has provided funds for the capital development of the Zoo.
