Today, our guest speaker was Dan Gibbons, founder & CEO of Cafe Liberty Culinary Program and the Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot.
The Culinary Program: Established in 2017, the program offered veterans and their adult family members training for a lifetime career in the food service industry. The Program has since been expanded to include individuals currently enrolled in a recovery program, and candidates referred by the DuPage County judicial system. Much of Dan's presentation dealt with the latter and how it came about with the support of Judge Bonnie Wheaton, Sheriff Mendrick, State's Attorney Bob Berlin, and others.
The Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot: Since Thanksgiving Day, 1984 this event has donated nearly $4 million to feed the hungry.
