Kevin's presentation focused on some of the changes he has seen in some thirty years of providing staffing and recruitment services in finance and accounting for both individuals and companies.:
- Multiple employments throughout a person's working career: This the norm and the expectation for most.
- For individuals seeking to start their working career: Having a liberal arts collegiate degree is often no longer considered desirable by employers. Employers are looking for specific skill sets.
- Deficient interpersonal and communication skills: This is a serious problem for younger individuals who rely on texting and social media for communication rather than physical meetings/gatherings and 'phone calls. They don't interview well, and have difficulty with work collaborations and client relationships.
- Technology: The internet not only created new industries and businesses, it destroyed others and completely changed how all businesses operate. Artifichial intelligence is predicted to drastically reduce the need for white collar employees.
