In honor of Earth Day, the Illinois Prairie Path corporation, in cooperation with the Friends of the Great Western Trails, DuPage County and other partner organizations, held its annual cleanup. Cleaning litter from all miles of the Illinois Prairie Path and Great Western Trails is a huge task, and cannot be done without hundreds of volunteers.
Our Club members have volunteered for many years. This year, we were assigned to neither the Prairie Path nor the Great Western Trail, but to the Carol Stream Community Park. In addition to the expected bottles, cans, plastics, and paper there were the "litter treasures" of a road sign, and a disassembled bicycle.
