Wheaton A.M. club makes donation to Peoples Resource Center

At their weekly Wednesday morning meeting held at Cantigny Golf Club on April 6, the Rotary Club of Wheaton AM presented Kim Perez, Executive Director of the People’s Resource Center, a check for $5,000 in support of the PRC’s continued dedication to those in need in Wheaton and DuPage County.

For over 25 years dating back to the PRC’s original location in a two-story, framed residence on Indiana Avenue in Wheaton, the Rotary Club of Wheaton AM has been a consistent partner either by providing hands-on, sweat-equity assistance during the PRC’s tenure at its various locations or making cash contributions totaling well over $20,000 since 1991.   Most recently the club participated as volunteers in the PRC’s food pantry in March.

“No non-profit organization our Rotary Club has partnered with has reached out to its neighbors in need more effectively throughout DuPage County than the People’s Resource Center”, said Tony Guerra, Wheaton AM Community Service Director.

“When we allocate our available funds to the many worthy non-profits reaching out to help others less fortunate, seeing firsthand the difference in peoples’ lives our donation makes through the efforts of the dedicated PRC staff and volunteers is our reward, and it reaffirms why we joined Rotary in the first place,” he added.

The Wheaton AM Rotary Club meets every Wednesday morning promptly at 7 AM at Cantigny Golf Club (Mack Road entrance) in Wheaton.  Meetings last approximately one hour and include a light breakfast at no charge for guests.  Anyone interested in finding out more about the opportunity to participate in Rotary’s volunteer community service projects is invited to sit in on a meeting without advance notice necessary or they can contact Club President-Elect Jim Hebert at (630) 432-4796.
