Today, our guest speaker was Joe Tebrugge, Director of the City of Wheaton Engineering Dept.

The Department is responsible for providing all engineering services for the City related to streets, sewers, water, traffic studies, and stormwater management. This includes reviewing project plans and inspecting construction for private development projects and issuing permits for developers to install infrastructure systems and stormwater management.
The Department's website (https://www.wheaton.il.us/308/Engineering) provides an excellent description of the provided services including:
- Current City Projects including the annual road program, sanitary sewer rehabilitation, lead service line replacement, sidewalk construction, flood control, traffic engineering, etc.
Much of Joe's presentation dealt with some of the more challenging projects he has dealt with involving aging infrastructure and obsolete construction standards. A big concern of his is that the storm water and sanitary sewer infrastructure installed during the housing boom of the 1970's & 1980's will require costly repair and replacement by the City.
